so happy you’re here
central Illinois therapist specializing in children, teens, and young adults
At Mood Haus Therapy, we create space to understand what’s happening beneath the surface. The feelings, behaviors, and patterns that make you who you are, the needs your brain and body are trying to communicate, and the things that help you feel safe, connected, and capable. Therapy is collaborative, curious, and rooted in understanding, not compliance.
Because big moods are never too much.

Kids don’t always have the words to tell us what’s going on, but they can show us through play. Play therapy gives children a space to express, explore, and work through big feelings in a way that makes sense to them.

Sometimes your brain knows you’re safe, but your body hasn’t caught up yet. EMDR helps your brain process experiences that still feel stuck, so they can feel less overwhelming in the present.

When you’ve been through hard things, your brain and body learn how to protect you. Sometimes those patterns stick around even when you’re no longer in the same situation. Together, we’ll get curious about the ways you think, feel, respond, and relate; and the protective responses that developed along the way.

All behavior makes sense when we understand what’s underneath it.
Big reactions, outbursts, avoidance, defiance, and challenging behaviors often communicate a need, emotion, or skill that hasn’t found another way out yet. Together, we look beyond the behavior to understand what’s driving it and what support is actually needed.
The goal isn’t simply to change the behavior, it’s to understand it, meet the need, and build new ways of responding.

Anxiety can make the world feel full of uncertainty, while OCD can make your brain demand certainty that simply isn’t possible.
Therapy can help you understand what’s happening without getting stuck in cycles of fear, reassurance, and avoidance. For OCD, we use evidence-based approaches including ERP, I-CBT, and ACT to help you respond differently to intrusive thoughts, uncomfortable feelings, and uncertainty.
The goal isn’t to get rid of every uncomfortable thought or feeling, it’s to build the freedom to live a life guided by what matters to you, even when anxiety shows up.
